Some neat and not so neat things
Today I just feel like brainstorming about some things I recently noticed and loved or hated about NYC. Feel free to skip this article or enter a lively discussion about things you see or experienced differently.
At the moment, I am pretty keen on discount designer shopping, which is really cool in NY, because you don’t even have to put hundreds of dollars on the table. Also, the many vintage shops are quite neat. For both I do not have enough time right now, but hope that changes at some time. What I love food-wise is Hommus, which you can also get in a great variety in the supermarket at a great quality. I also love the fact that every weekend you can go to another world-class(!) art space and there is still so much left to see. Hey, and people are really friendly here and you can chat with them more easily than in Germany. It is also a lot of fun to watch movies that were made in NYC or just where we live, I will surely continue to do that when I’m back.
Not so nice: Since I complained about the heating recently, it now gave up working completely. Maybe it is because of the big hole near Dakota Patrick saw some days ago from which steam was coming up (perhaps something broke down there). Well, so far it’s not too cold. What is also quite bad here is rain (so far we only had very few rainy days, we lucky dogs!): it comes from all sides and an umbrella is of absolutely no use at all (wind!). Since the streets are so uneven, there are always instantly huge “Pfützen” and holes filled with water. If it is dark, you cannot see properly how deep a hole is and all of a sudden you stand in it with the whole foot. Fun! What is not so nice food-wise is non-fat yogurt (even if it is made of soy, goat or sheep milk, which most yoghurts are) - disgusting! Hey, and time goes much to fast in NYC!
