Bugs, Chuck Statler and Tooth Paste “Reloaded”

Roach

So many things happening, its hard to keep you guys posted. First noteworthy event recently was that we caught our first (and hopefully last) real bug (we knew you’d be burning to see it, so we took this picture). Did you know that some of these roaches are called “German bugs/roach” - hm? Of course we didn’t rumage about in the garbage cans on the street to catch it, it was running happily around in our living room. We also saw a crawly thing called centipede, which aparrently eats roaches, but ours was lazy or too scared about the size of the roach, anyway. So far, no further roaches showed up - they better won’t!
The second noteworthy event was the Chuck Statler evening in MOMA yesterday, where we experienced Statler in a discussion. He is a famous music video/movie maker who worked with bands such as DEVO or Elvis Costello in the seventies and e.g. with the Moldy Peaches/Adam Green recently (check out some stills from the video here). They also showed lots of samples from his work. His seventies music videos are unbelievable: all these guys with log beards, funny shirts and hats, snipping their fingers and dancing around in hospitals or in front of burning houses. We were laughing out loudly - we only found out later, that two guys sitting in front of us and right behind us were from the bands in the videos (especially the guy behind us was remarkable, with long hair, huge glases, black leggins, and white tennis shoes). It turned out that this actually was Statlers son. Last but not least, the ticket guy greeted me with “welcome back”, because he assumed I have worked there.

Final thing we have to talk about today is tooth paste again (remember my article from earlier). This time, I was standing in front of a tooth paste shelf in Duane Reade (finally the correct location to look for these things) when an elderly guy (a client) approached me to recommend (unasked) his favorite tooth paste “which is perfect for dry mouth, especially in combination with this mouthwash here”. He got quite talkative about this topic …

One really last and final thing: Keanu Reeves really lives here, on Central Park West and 83rd Street.
