About Greenwich Village and Chasing Keanu Reeves
Since we have a tough project phase presently, things are quite intense at the moment: in order to take some time off for a walk in the afternoon, I have to get up really early and/or work long hours in the evening. However, New York cheers me up so much and is so much fun that this is really worth it!
Monday, we went to see Greenwich Village, the place where many actors, writers, and other artists lived in the 50s to 70s. Famous Christoper Street (remember Christopher Street Day?) with lots of gay shops and locations is there, of course, or the least broad house of the city (2,9 meters if I remember correctly) in which apparently also Carry Grant lived, lots of very cozy and French-style cafes and restaurants (in the cafes you can actually hang out for a while). In some parts the “Village” (or “West Village” as they call it) really looks like one: small houses and secret speakeasies (in one of then D.J. Salinger, Simone de Beauvoir and Adgar Allen Poe had their bit of illegal booze). During the last days “Frodo” (Elliah Wood) has been seen brunching in Greenwich Village at three in the afternoon - gee! By the way, Keanu Reeves has been spotted twice recently in Upper West Side, always five streets away from us at most. Patrick keeps telling me that I missed him again … No, but seriously, the West Village is a place I would go if I start to miss Paris and a decent Bohemian atmosphere. So far I do not miss Paris at all. In fact it has been replaced from No. 1 of my favorite cities. I really lost my heart to New York and I know I will miss it for ever when I finally have to leave here.
